Sympathy

Ruth

You Have Our Deepest Sympathy

Divider

At times it feels like the world is lost
When loved ones go away.
The world’s not lost it just moves on
From where we try to stay.

The world rotating endlessly
Gives no thought to the past.
Memories are where our happy times stay,
They’re protected, so will last.

So take with you all you can recall
The world won’t stop; grab hold!
The turning grinds but affords more time
To thaw warm memories from cold.

Sympathy’s not just a word,
It’s offering to share
And help with sadness in our lives
It’s always being there.

It doesn’t need the answers,
It needn’t voice a sound.
It’s catching someone falling
Before they reach the ground.

You have it on all sides and ‘tho
It can’t reduce your pain,
It gives the best reminder that
Sun will follow the rain.

It’s times like these our paths are blurred;
Such unfair loss, such pain incurred.
Confused, we miss the touch, the feel,
The oneness only love reveals.
In love the unity that’s found
Is covert but nonetheless profound;
But the missing half that we lament,
Other-worldly, heaven-sent,
Isn’t lost at all, if we look with care,
In us, our memories hold it there.

Never is there justice
For losing ones so dear
Yet even though they’ve gone for now
Shared memories keep them near.

Sometimes there are no answers
To what you’ll wish to know.
No simple rhyme or reason
For what makes smiles, tears flow.

Always, though, we’ve open arms;
Our love unreserved and true,
To share your joys, bear your sorrow,
We’re here always, just for you.

A dear old friend once touched my heart,
When it had sunk so low.
The familiar words they gave me were
Calming, soothing, home.

Those words’ dull glow gave light again
To roads made dark, unclear.
Both the words first spoken long ago,
And the friend are close, still dear.

The swollen darkness when the dear friend left
Has long since gone unseen
The dear friend’s word and spirit stay
Their memory evergreen.
